Babe

This book is about a pig called Babe. Babe was won at a fair by Farmer Hogget. The Hogget family were planning to have Babe for Christmas dinner, but all Babe wanted to do was herd sheep! Fly the sheep dog took in Babe as a foster child along with her five puppies. Babe herded sheep very differently compared to other sheep dogs and sheep pigs. When Farmer Hogget saw Fly teaching Babe and the five puppies how to chase ducks, Farmer Hogget decided to take Babe to the ''World Sheep Dog Championships'' Babe was very excited. But Farmer Hogget knew that pigs or any other animals other than sheep dogs were not allowed to enter, but he had a plan. He would take Fly into the ring. Then he would tell Fly to get into the back of the Ute. Then he would get Babe to come into the ring, Then it would be too late for the judges to have their say. It was a great plan. Fly was very proud of Babe for his polite communication, even though Fly was not very polite herself. When the day finally came,Babe was very excited, but he was forever wondering if the plan would work. He was also very nervous. When the day came for the ''World Sheep Dog Championships'' Babe and Fly jumped into the back of the Ute. Then Farmer Hogget got in the front and they drove up the road. It was a long trip to the sheep dog championships but they made it in time. Finally it was Farmer Hogget's turn. He entered the ring and got ready for the starting siren. Before they knew it the siren went and Farmer Hogget told Fly to get into the back of the Ute and to tell Babe to come into the ring. Babe started as soon as he could, because he knew of the risk. He talks to the sheep very politely and the judges are so impressed that Babe came first, but there was something Farmer Hogget said to Babe and it was some words that all Farmers say to their sheep dogs and it was, ''that'll do, that'll do.''
This book is good for all ages, and has a motto to it. This is a wonderful book written by ''Dick King Smith'' ''I enjoyed this book because Babe (the piglet in the story) was not afraid of what other people would think,he just did what he thought was right and I thought that that was pretty cool''. Children that are 6 and over would enjoy this book.
